Children and the aged jubilate over Ghana’s victory

Tema, June 18, GNA 96 Ghana’s two nil victoty over Czech Republic at the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Germany brought children and adults spontaneously to the streets of Tema to celebrate, while others opened their sound systems loudly. Soon after the referee blew the last whistle to close the match, drinking bars were filled to capacity as jubilant crowds, clad in Ghana’s national colours started drumming and dancing to and fro the streets while drivers blew their horns continuously with some passengers sitting on the bonnets. Other football fans were seen standing in groups praising the gallant footballers.

Some were overheard saying that they were going to take their favourite meal before retiring to bed. Fire crackers ranted the air as it used to happen during the Yuletide. Some attributed the failure of the Black Stars to score in the first match with Italy to pressure and tension placed on them by remarks from the public and urged them to do away with such anxiety and rather muster courage to score more goals in subsequent matches. Nii Tackie, a resident of Community One Site Three, indicated that for the first time in many years, he would go to Church on Sunday to shower praises for the Lord=92s guidance for taking Ghana through the match.
