Child labour stalls education in Techiman

Fanti New Town (B/A), Aug 12, GNA – Madam Helena Adutwumwaa, Techiman Municipal Coordinator of Education, in charge of Private Schools, has blamed the low level of school enrolment and academic performance in the Municipality on child labour.

She said it was wrong for parents to engage their children in commercial activities at the detriment of educational pursuit. Madam Adutwumwaa was speaking at the third open day and fund raising harvest of Takyia-Ameyaw Junior Secondary School and Obour Amaning Centre for Education Primary School, at Fanti New Town in the Municipality.

She stressed: “It is only education that can equip the children with the requisite knowledge and expertise to enhance their skills in business and other commercial activities.”
