Begoro (E/R), May 13, GNA – The Fanteakwa District Director of Education, Ms Mary Animwah, has expressed her displeasure of the fact that teachers in the district wrote the last term’s examination questions on the blackboard following a restriction on collection of extra fees during the commencement of the capitation grant.
She, therefore, assured that her office would from this term, print examination question papers for all schools for their terminal examination to supplement the capitation grant.
Ms Animwah was speaking at a quarterly meeting to assess the performance of headteachers in the district and plan for improvement in their efforts.
Miss Animwaah called for the establishment of questions bank at the district to enhance the setting of standardize examination question for schools.
Headteachers in the district expressed their dissatisfaction at the rate of absenteeism and truancy of pupils in schools in the light of the introduction of the capitation grant. They observed that the development was very alarming, during the tomato harvesting season in the district, where most of the pupils were employed as farm hands.
They attributed the canker to parental neglect and irresponsibility, which compelled the affected pupils to fend for themselves and appealed to the Fanteakwa District Assembly to enact a bye-law on child labour in the district.
