Chieftaincy clashes in B/A: One shot dead; two injured

One person has reportedly been shot dead following renewed chieftaincy clashes at Kato, near Brekum in the Brong Ahafo region.

Two other people who sustained gunshot wounds have been referred to the Holy Family Hospital in the region for treatment.

According to Starr FM’s regional correspondent Michael Mfum Sarpong, the shooting followed blockades mounted by two factions to prevent people from Sunyani and Berekum entering the town.

The road blocks were reportedly mounted in protest of the installation of a new chief while the other faction blocked another road leading to the town in retaliation.

Mfum reports that the Brong Ahafo regional Crime Officer Mahama Arhin has revealed that Police reinforcements have been deployed to the town to maintain law and order.
