Chiefs want police officer out of town for allegedly stealing roofing sheets

A Police Chief Inspector Addai, stationed at Dompim Pepesa a town in Tarkwa Nsuem Municipality of the Western Region, has been accused of stealing roofing sheets meant for developmental projects in the town.

Traditional authorities in the area have ordered him to vacate the town with immediate effect for insulting the chiefs and elders after it turned out that he had used the sheets to roof his fiancee’s roof.

Secretary of the Dompim Pepesa Traditional Area, Ameshi Awisi, in an interview with Nyankonton Mu Nsem explained that the leaders of the town purchased roofing sheets for the Community Centre which was under renovation and kept them close to the Police station.

He stated further that they got information that the roofing sheets which they kept at the station had gone missing and after investigations it turned out that the senior police officer had used the sheets to roof his fiancee’s building.

He reportedly insulted the chiefs and called ‘mad people’ after he was confronted on the issue.

The Chief and his elders have lodged a complaint at the District Police Command to have Chief Inspector Addai removed from the area, as they cannot guarantee his safety if he should continue to stay in the town.
