Chiefs urged to co-operate with Asantehene

Abuakwa (Ash), April 13, GNA – A businessman has appealed to chiefs to co-operate with Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, towards effective development of Asanteman.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency at Abuakwa in the Atwima-Nwabiagya District on Thursday, Mr Joseph Akintola Amankwaah said such co-operation would enhance Otumfuo Osei Tutu’s determination to develop Asanteman.

He said the Golden Stool is a property that Ashantis cherish so much and therefore the co-operation by chiefs was very paramount. Mr Amankwaah deplored the behaviour of some chiefs who used the name of the Asantehene to harass innocent citizens by extorting monies from them.

He suggested that chiefs who ignored advice from the Manhyia Palace should be sanctioned.

Mr Amankwaah commended Otumfuo Osei Tutu for his focus and what has been achieved in education, HIV/AIDS and other health issues, capacity building for traditional authorities and community development.
