Adaklu Kodzobi (V/R), Sept. 26, GNA – The chiefs and people of Adaklu Kodzobi, a farming community near Ho Polytechnic, have expressed worry about the poor performance of the community’s junior high school in the last Basic Education Certificate Examination. They expressed the worry when Mr. Stanley Ansah, the Headteacher of the school, briefed them on the performance of the school in the examination at the community’s monthly meeting at the weekend. Mr. Ansah said the best student of school in the last BECE got aggregate 18.
He said in the 2006 examination, the best aggregate was 13 and that while they were expecting an improvement, it has deteriorated. Mr. Ansah said the school was putting some measures in place to improve teaching and learning and also improve the school’s performance in next year’s BECE.
He said with the introduction of the school reforms a lot was expected from teachers and appealed to parents to assist them by supervising the studies of their children at home and provide them with learning materials.
Togbe Dzegblade IV, chief of the community, said they would rigidly enforce the byelaw banning students and pupils from attending wake keepings and video centres.
He said work on the community’s 20-seat water closet toilet had started and two nurses have been posted to the community’s clinic. Togbe Dzegblade said the community would soon be connected to the national grid.
