Chiefs call for transfer of teachers due to poor BECE results

Bonte (B/A), Nov 09, GNA – The fallen standard in education in the Nkoranza District has compelled two chiefs in the area to appeal to the District Education Directorate to reshuffle the teaching staff of the local junior secondary school.

Nana Krobea Asante Sarpong, Chief of Bonte and Nana Osei Baffo, Chief of Bomiri complained at a meeting with Mr Kwabena Agyemang-Badu, the District Director of Education, that the school’s results in the Basic Education Certificate Examination for the past four years were appalling.

“This problem is worrying parents as a result of which some of them have withdrawn their children from the school”, Nana Asante said. The chiefs said out of 25 candidates the school presented for this year’s examination, only two boys passed.

Mr Agyemang-Badu expressed concern about the problem and said the directorate would conduct a mock examination for all basic level six students by the close of the year. He called on teachers in the district to redouble efforts to improve academic performance of the students.
