Manso-Nkwanta (Ash), Aug 17, GNA – The Omanhene of Manso-Nkwanta traditional area, Nana Bi-Kusi Appiah II, has appealed to the people in Amansie West to embrace the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) which he said will replaces the burdensome ‘cash and carry’ system. He made the appeal when the Amansie West District NHIS Scheme Manager, Mr. Oscar Andoh briefed the Manso-Nkwanta Traditional Council on the scheme on Tuesday.
Nana Bi-Kusi Appiah asked all those in the district who have not yet pay their premium to do so for affordable health care. Mr. Andoh said more than 3,110 people have paid their premium fully and about 670 people have only paid half of that premium.
He said the scheme would now start full operation in the district on September 1, and appealed to chiefs to encourage those above 70 years who are exempted from payment to make themselves available for photo-taking for identification cards to be issued to them. Copies of handouts of the NHIS were later distributed to the chiefs.
