Chiefs asked to support revenue mobilisation

Kukuom (B/A), July 12, GNA – Mr. Fleance Danso, Asunafo South District Chief Executive, at the weekend appealed to traditional authorities in the area to support the assembly in revenue mobilization. He said the government regarded chiefs as partners in development and were therefore expected to cooperate with the government to implement policies and programmes for national development. Mr Danso made the appeal during a meeting with the members of Kukuom traditional council at Kukuom to see how best the traditional authority could cooperate with the assembly for the rapid socio-economic development of the area. He expressed regret about the numerous chieftaincy disputes in some parts of Brong-Ahafo, saying, such litigations only exposed the noble chieftaincy institution to public ridicule disrespect. Mr Danso urged the chiefs to bury their differences and forge ahead in unity, stressing, the district security committee would continue to collaborate with them to promote peace in the area. Osahene Kwaku Aterkyi, Omanhene of Kukuom and President of the Council, appealed to queen mothers and kingmakers to be sincere and honest in nominating candidates as chiefs, and they should follow the laid-down regulations for their installation, to help curb chieftaincy disputes. 12 July 10
