Chiefs and people of Jirapa celebrate Bong-ngo festival

The chiefs and people of the Jirapa Traditional Area have held a durbar to climax a week-long celebration of their annual Bong-ngo festival at Jirapa in the Upper West Region.

Deputy Upper West Regional Minister Abu Kansangbata who read an address on behalf of the Vice President Kwesi Amissah Arthur disclosed that plans are far advanced to build a “Pack House” at Yagha under the Northern Rural Growth Programme to enable farmers to store perishable crops which are produced in the area.

He said when the Pack House is built it will help reduce post-harvest losses so that farmers are not compelled to sell their produce at prices below the production cost.
