Chief warns assuming illegitimate chieftaincy tittles

Anyako, (V/R) Nov. 20, GNA – Togbe Dzokoto Gligui VI, Chief of Anyako has cautioned people in his area to desist from assuming illegitimate chieftaincy titles and positions. He said the chieftaincy institution, was governed by tradition and statues of the state, and not for miscreants who want to raise their ego.

Togbe Dzokoto-Gligui was speaking at the outdooring of a sub-chief of Anyako, Togbe Aposa VI, at a ceremony at Anyako in the Keta District on Saturday.

He said people who thrust chieftaincy titles on themselves created disunity among their people, which could result in conflicts and litigation.

Togbe Aposa, 27, known in private life as, Agali Archimedes Kofi Ackuaku is an Agricultural Economist . He swore the oath of allegiance to the three divisions in Anyako and to Togbe Dzokoto Gligui. The ceremony was an expose of Anlo dance and drama but at which the Christian prayer replaced libation pouring. Togbe Aposa succeeds his late grandfather Togbe Aposa IV, who died in 1980 after ruling for 20 years.

The new chief pledged to seek direction from older and more experienced colleagues as he worked to advance the cause of the community and the Anlo state.

Anyako, a peninsula community, which is an Anlo Traditional Council Division, has 13 sub-chiefs.

Among those present at the ceremony were Togbe Kporku III, Chief of Alakple, Togbe Dordzeavudzi, Chief of Abor, a representative of the Awadada of Anlo. 20 Nov. 05
