Chief wants gambling banned in Gomoa Assin

The Odikro of Gomoa Assin in the Central region, Nana Asahoma V, has appealed to the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Gomoa West, Theophilus Adu Mensah, to take steps to regulate operations of gambling centres and slot machines in the area.

This, according to him, will make it possible for pupils in the constituency to desist from gambling and focus on their studies.

Nana Asahoma V made the appeal at the handing over ceremony of a three-unit classroom block. “Some white men in this town have set up jackpots [slot machines] all around. This has contributed to social vices.

Some pupils steal money to [gamble]. We cannot, therefore, blame teachers for poor performances of students. DCE, we are pleading with you, we will cease all the [gambling] in town”.
