Kansakrom (Ash), April 20, GNA – A traditional ruler has appealed to the government to resource and equip the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) to enable it discharge its duties effectively. Nana Nkrumah Adasa, Krontihene of Kansakrom in the Atwima-Mponua district of Ashanti who made the appeal, said the NCCE needed assistance in terms of logistics and vehicles to enable official intensify their public education mandate on important national issues. Nana Adasa made the appeal at a public education forum on the re-denomination exercise organized by the Atwima-Mponua district directorate of the NCCE at Kansakrom.

Mr Isaac Nota Adjei, the District Civic Education Officer of NCCE, advised the people to be wary of “419” people who might pose as bank officials during the exercise to dupe them. He reminded the people that the value of the old and new currency would be the same.

Mr Adjei, however, advised them to cultivate the habit of savings and deal directly with the banks to avoid any embarrassment. Similar sensitization programmes have been held in some communities, churches and mosques. 20 April 07
