Chief urges Ghanaians not to rely on promises by politicians

Awutu-Mankessim (C/R), Aug. 12, GNA – The Ankobeahene of Awutu Traditional area, Nai Kwao Otuo V, has advised Ghanaians not to rely on promises made by politicians and instead unite for development. Nai Otuo V, who is also the chief of Awutu-Mankessim in the central region, said politicians, both past and present have failed to fulfil promises they made and have been making to Ghanaians. Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in an interview after meeting with leaders of the Ankobea stool to discuss the forthcoming Akomasi festival at Awutu-Mankessim on Sunday, he said Ghanaians must focus their minds on things that would unite them as one people so that collectively they could initiate programmes that would bring development.

He charged leaders of various political parties to educate their followers regularly on all vital national issues rather than to instigate them to do things which hinder development. Nai Otuo V appealed to government to consider organising a state funeral for the late Dr Kwame Nkrumah, President of the first republic of Ghana and Dr Kofi Abrefa Busia, Prime Minister of the second republic.
