Gomoa Onyakuadze (C/R), Jan. 26, GNA – Nana Ennu Kumah IX, a member of the Gonoa Ajumako Traditional Council has advised residents to ensure prompt payment of development levies meant for implementation of education, health and electricity projects.
Nana Ennu Kumah gave the advice when he and the queen mother Nana Esi Panyimah jointly launched an anti-bushfire campaign as part of the annual Akwambo festival, which begins on Tuesday, Jan 27.
He said the government alone cannot address all the social needs of the people and that it was incumbent on rural communities to initiate projects that would attract the support of the District Assemblies.
Nana Ennu Kumah told members of the unit committees and opinion leaders in the town to ensure that the anti-bushfire campaign launched in the community achieved its objective by using the festival period to educate the people extensively on the devastating effects of bushfire on the economy.
Nana Panyimah urged the people to pay their development levies to support government-initiated projects in the community.
She appealed to all non-resident citizens in the community to come home and contribute their quota to the development of the town.
