Feyiase (Ash), Oct. 25, GNA – A traditional ruler has warned that he would confiscate all disputed lands in his area to help curb the rising incidents of land disputes.
Nana Osei Kuffuor, chief of Feyiase in the Bosomtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma District of Ashanti, who gave the warning, said his decision stemmed from numerous complaints he received from his subjects on cases of multiple sales of stool lands he had already released to natives both resident and abroad for development. He said, he had released 2,500 single plot of land free of charge to citizens of the town during the last 12 years to enable them develop the town but some miscreants have without his knowledge and consent sold the land to private individuals and have pocketed the proceeds. Nana Kuffuor therefore, called on private developers to secure proper documentation on lands they purchase before embarking on any physical development to avoid the unfortunate situation where it would be confiscated by the traditional authority.
The Chief announced this on Sunday at one of the monthly durbars instituted to enable him interact with his subjects and discuss pertinent issues affecting the area.
He advised nursing mothers to visit antenatal clinics regularly with their children and immunize them against the known childhood killer diseases to ensure their longevity.
Reverend Father Antwi Boasiako, a Catholic priest, based in the United States and native of the town, advised citizens against selfishness, greed and jealousy, which are sure recipes that undermine the development of every community.
Mr Yaw Barima, unit committee chairman of the town, called on citizens both home and abroad to come home and assist with the construction of more classroom blocks for the schools in the community, since as a result of the government capitation grant, total enrolment has soared up in basic schools creating congestion.
