Chief swears oath to Ejisuhene

Ejisu (Ash), Jan. 28, GNA – Nana Obeng Panin II, Odikro of Nyinataase-Manhyia near Ejisu, who is the Gyasewahene of the Ejisu traditional area, on Thursday swore the oath of allegiance to the Ejisuhene, Nana Aboagye Agyei II at a ceremony at Ejisu.

Nana Panin, who until his installation was called Mr Kingsley Kusi Mensah, an engineer with AngloGold Ashanti Bibiani, succeeded his late uncle, Nana Kwasi Asamoah, the former odikro who abdicated last year due to ill health.

He stressed the need for the people to eschew all negative tendencies that militate against development and advised them to gear their efforts towards contributing effectively towards the development of the town.

Nana Aboagye Agyei commended the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for establishing the Otumfuo Education Fund to support brilliant but needy students and said the Fund since its inception had made a significant impact on education not only in Asanteman but also in other parts of the country.

He appealed to all traditional authorities in Asanteman, individuals, the government and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and churches to contribute meaningfully towards the Fund to help promote education.

Nana Obeng Panin pledged his preparedness to serve his people and the Ejisu Traditional Council and said since education was the major tool for development his priority would be geared towards promoting education in the traditional area.

He promised to make Nyinataase-Manhyia a model town for others to emulate and asked the people to embark on development to improve their lot.

Nana Obeng Panin promised an open administration and asked the people to unite behind him to enable him live up to their expectation.
