Chief of Ziope Traditional Area elected Council of State member

Togbui Binah Lawluvi VI, Paramount Chief of Ziope Traditional area was on Wednesday elected to represent the Volta Region on the Council of State.

He polled 25 votes to beat five other candidates. They are God Is Good Amegashie, zero vote; Nana Obornie Sebewie V, 13 votes; Togbega Tsedze Atakora III, 4 votes; Mrs Lydia Aku Adajawah, 6 votes; and Dr. Austin Asamoah-Tutu, 2 votes.

Togbe Lawluvi, lawyer and lecturer at Ho Polytechnic and President of Volta Regional Chapter of Association of Rural Banks, called for cooperation towards the transformation of the Region.

He said among his priorities would be to help improve education and infrastructure in the Region.

Togbe Lawluvi expressed gratitude to the delegates for giving him the opportunity to represent the Region.

The Council of State consists of 25 members, one each elected from the 10 regions, eleven others appointed by the President and four others appointed by the President in consultation with Parliament.

The Council of State shall advise the President or any other authority in respect of any appointment, which is required by the 1992 Constitution.

The election was supervised by officials of the Electoral Commission.
