Chief of Ntoase appeals to Ghana Water Company to repair stand pipes

Nsawam (E/R), Aug. 19, GNA – Nii Moses Laryea II, Chief of Ntoase, near Adoagyiri in the Akwapim South District, has appealed to the Ghana Water Company Limited to assist the community to repair its standpipes, which had broken down since five months ago.

Nii Laryea said the situation had compelled the inhabitants to walk long distances in search of water from dams and streams at nearby villages.

He told the Ghana News Agency at Ntoase that the problem had affected farming activities and children were sent to the streams thus exposing them to the risk of snakebite.

Nii Laryea said there was the possibility of an outbreak of waterborne diseases, unless action was expedited to repair the pipes.

The Chief said the Community had already erected 30 low-tension poles to tap power from Duadekye, a nearby settlement, and appealed to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to extend power to the town because criminals were taking advantage of the darkness to steal their properties.
