Abiriw (E/R), Jan.8, GNA – The Chief of Abiriw, Nana Kwame Henaku, has appealed to Ghanaians to accept the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) as the only means of accessing quality health care. He therefore, called on all those who were skeptical about the scheme to change their minds and register since the NHIS had come to stay.
Nana Henaku made the appeal at this year’s annual Ohum festival of Chiefs and people of Abiriw, in the Akuapem North District on Saturday. Giving accounts of developments in the area for the past year, the chief expressed his appreciation to the government for the construction of access roads, streets and other developmental projects in the area. He commended the former Minister of Information, Mr. Dan Botwe, for his immense contribution towards the development of the area and for his contribution towards the construction of a post office for the area and described the gesture as a display of patriotism and urged all who have the means, to emulate him.
He called on all political parties to cooperate with their political opponents in a more constructive manner as the nation celebrates its 50th anniversary.
The District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr Edward Aboagye, said the assembly was bent on improving education in the area.
He revealed that, the assembly was in partnership with the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG), to help improve upon the facilities at the Planned Parenthood Association of Ghana (PPAG) school, which happened to be the only vocational school on the Akuapem-ridge.
