Chief Justice orders closure of Anyinam District Court

The Chief Justice, Mrs Georgina Theodora Wood, has ordered the immediate closure of the Anyinam District Court in the Eastern Region.

This comes upon receipt of a report that the building is unsafe for occupation.

A press statement issued by the Judicial Service and signed by the Judicial Secretary, Justice Alex Poku Acheampong, on Thursday, said the Chief Justice has directed that all cases pending in that court be transferred to the District Court at Kwabeng, the District Capital.

It said all users of the court at Anyinam, including lawyers, the police, as well as the general public, are to take note of this and comply accordingly.

“Meanwhile, staff at the Anyinam court have been directed to keep off the building and report to work at the Kwabeng district court pending reassignment to other courts” the statement noted.

It said: “this measure will be in force until the completion of the new Anyinam courthouse which is currently under construction by the District Assembly.”
