Chief initiates educational campaign on health insurance

Apam (C/R), Feb. 3, GNA – The Chief of Apam, Nana Effirim X, has embarked on an educational campaign on the national health insurance scheme as his personal contribution towards the success of the scheme. According to Nana Effirim, the six-month programme would cover Churches, Moslem organisations, fishmongers, fishermen, traders and other working groups in the town.

Addressing a group of fishermen at Apam, he advised people in the Gomoa District to embrace the scheme to help them solve their health problems.

He described the District as one of the most economically distressed in the country and stressed the need to embrace the scheme. Nana Effirim said his campaign would also cover the HIV/AIDS pandemic, teenage pregnancy and environmental sanitation. He announced plans to involve other community leaders in the town to ensure success and urged Chiefs to initiate programmes to supplement the efforts of the government
