Chief Imam urges construction of dedicated mortuaries for Muslims

Alhaji Ahmed Mohammed Yunus Takoradi, the Deputy Ahafo Regional Chief Imam, has called on President John Dramani Mahama to construct dedicated mortuaries for the Muslim communities in the country.

He said the Muslims required the special mortuaries as demanded by the Islamic faith and burial practices.

Alhaji Takoradi made the call in an interview with the media on the sidelines of the regional Eid al-Adha Prayers held at the Goaso Roman Catholic Basic School in the region.

Earlier, he joined and led hundreds of Muslims who had gathered at the park to pray for the nation and the government.

Alhaji Takoradi also called on the government to increase funding support and improve Islamic education in the country, saying the nation ought to make investment into infrastructure, curricula and teacher development in Islamic schools.

“President Mahama must also prioritize transparency and accountability in his government and to foster national peace, unity and also strengthen public trust in the government.

With transparency and accountability, everybody would be willing to contribute to the nation’s progress, he stated, and lauded President Mahama for his support to improving the lives of Muslims in the country.

He also urged Muslims to continue promoting peaceful co-existence with other religious faiths in the country, and urged them to love one another.

He cautioned the youth to celebrate the season responsibly and with moderation, urging them against substance abuse and other unhealthy practices that could get them into trouble.
