Chief Imam urges all to partake in registration exercise

Sheikh Dr Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu, National Chief Imam has called on Ghanaians who are qualified and eligible for the registration to come out and register in order to afford themselves the opportunity to vote in the forthcoming elections.

“As a religious leader, I call on all Ghanaian and in particular Ghanaian Muslims who are 18 and above to come out and exercise their rights to vote and be recorded in the country’s database of eligible Ghanaians and voters”.

In a release issued to the Ghana News Agency on Saturday, Sheikh Sharubutu appealed to politicians to preach the message of peace and love for the country in their campaigns rather than inciting people and using abusive languages against each other.

He said Politicians should be seen on the path of uniting and leading people towards national development discourse so as to inculcate in Ghanaians the sense of patriotism and service to the nation.

Sheikh Sarubutu appealed to the major political parties in the country to refrain from politics of insults, character assassination and the attitude of what an individual could achieve from the nation rather than what could be contributed towards the development of mother Ghana.

He further urged Ghanaians to hold on, “in this election year to our values and principles that unite us as Ghanaians irrespective of our religion, faith, gender, status and standard of life”.**
