Chief gives financial assistance to his subjects

The Chief of Abura Batanya, in the Central Region, Nana Fuah IX rpt. (Nana Fuah) has within the past few months given financial assistance to 60 of his subjects as part of his efforts to fight against poverty in the community.

Nana Fuah, who was speaking to the GNA at this year’s annual “Akwanbo” festival of the Chiefs and people of the town, said between 200, 000 cedis and one million cedis were given to each of person, who were mostly women.

Nana Fuah, who is a private Businessman based in the United States of America (USA), said his assistance had helped to improve the living standard of most of his people.

He commended his people for the absolute peace existing in the town that had resulted in the construction of a community centre complex by them through self-help.

Nana Fuah renewed his appeal to the government to improve upon electricity supply to the town because a multi-million cedis hotel equipped with modern facilities that had been built by a citizen of the town based in the United Kingdom was not functioning properly due to the low voltage.

The Chief said the power situation was also discouraging citizens residing outside the country, wishing to establish agro-processing industries in the town.
