Chief funds pilot programme

Oblogo, (GAR), June 21, GNA, Nii Kwaku Bibini III, Oblogo Mantse, is financing a self-employment skills pilot programme at the cost of about 10 million cedis under which Jami Batik, a tie and dye training institute at Kasoa is going to train unemployed women at Oblogo in tie and dye, batik, soap and powder making.

The first batch of 11 young women who have benefited from the one month training passed out at a graduation ceremony held at Oblogo on Sunday. Addressing the graduands, Nii Bibini said the training was to empower women and supplement government’s efforts to impact skills to them to strive to be self-reliant to help sustain them in life.

He said that could make them independent and prevent them from resorting to immoral activities to make a living and end up contacting the HIV/AIDS disease.

Nii Bibini advised unemployed women at Oblogo to come and register with the institute at no cost to enable them to support their families in future.

Miss Jemila Seidu Adams, Head of the Institute at Kasoa in an interview, said the objective of the Institute was to empower women within the country at a modest cost of 200,000 cedis per participant with necessary skills to enable them to be independent.

She expressed gratitude to the chief, who is financing the programme and urged the graduands to put their skills to good use.

Miss Dina Ademina, on behalf of the graduands, also expressed thanks to all, who helped in providing them with the necessities in life. Certificates were issued to the graduands by the Institute.
