Chief describes NATO’s military action in Libya as injustice

Hohoe, May 26, GNA – Togbega Gabusu VI, the Paramount Chief of Gbi Traditional Area, has described NATO’s military action in Libya as “injustice and indiscipline” and called for a halt to the bombing.

He said NATO’s bombing of the North African country should cease because it is claiming civilian casualties and is destroying infrastructure. Togbega Gabusu, who spoke to the Ghana News Agency on the 22nd anniversary of his installation, said two illegalities or wrongs do not make a right.

He said it was surprising that AU saw nothing wrong with the action of NATO to a sovereign country and with assistance from rebels continued to pummel Libya.

Togbega Gabusu said NATO’s action amounted to sanctioning rebellion and supporting a renegade group against a sovereign state.

He asked 93Which crime is more grievous, alleged crimes perpetrated by Col Moammar Gaddafi or those being unleashed by NATO and the rebels?” Togbega Gabusu said Iraq continues to suffer even after the demise of its former leader, Saddam Hussein, and that this should be a lesson for NATO.

He appealed to the AU to get NATO to halt the bombing and find an African solution to the problem.

On Chieftaincy, Togbega Gabusu appealed to the government to re-energise the institution to enable it to contribute to contribute to national development.
