Chief commends peaceful election

Apam (C/R) Dec. 10, GNA – The Paramount Chief of Gomoa Akyempim Traditional Area, Obrifo Ahunako Ahor Ankobea III, has commended Ghanaians for the conduct of the peaceful general election. He commended the Electoral Commission (EC), the security agents, the media and the electorate for a good work done. He made the commendation at a meeting of the Youth Wing of the Church of Pentecost at Apam on Tuesday. Obrifo Ahor Ankobea said the election has established that democracy had advanced in the country. “It has also established the tolerance of Ghanaians in matters involving divergent views.” He appealed to the youth to exhibit the same sense of maturity in case of a run-off if none of the candidates secured the mandated percentage to become president.

Obrifo Ahor Ankobea reminded Ghanaians that the searchlight thrown on Ghana by other countries about the conduct of the election had not been removed and that there was the need to maintain the peace. The paramount chief said the defeat of certain personalities in the elections was a clarion call on politicians not to look down on the electorate.

“Members of Parliament must establish a good relationship between themselves and their constituents,” he said.
