Chief commends government for creating constituency

Nkoranza (B/A), Jul 4, GNA – Nana Okofo Nyarko Gyabaa 11, Chief of Busunya in Nkoranza District of the Brong Ahafo Region, has commended the government for creating the Nkoranza North constituency. Speaking at a news conference, he expressed appreciation for the foresight since it would accelerate development of the district. He said parliamentarians in the two constituencies would now have less problem reaching out to the communities to interact with the people.

Nana Nyarko appealed to traditional rulers in the new constituency to avoid partisan politics to enable them to mobilise the people to initiate development projects.

He also advised them against “selling their conscience” to political leaders for their personal interest.

The chief urged the people to co-operate with traditional rulers, Assembly Members and Unit Committees, as well as other opinion leaders in initiating development programmes.

“We should never allow partisan politics to divide us since before the formation of political parties, we lived together as one people with a common destiny,” he said.

Nana Nyarko called on the youth to avoid negative acts during the electioneering campaign to ensure a violence-free general election. He gave assurance that the chiefs and people in the new constituency would promote peace, unity and discipline in appreciation. The Nkoranza constituency was early this year divided into Nkoranza North and South.
