Chief commends electorates for a peaceful election

Nkoranza (B/A), Dec. 31, GNA – Nana Okofo Nyarko Gyabaa II, chief of Busunya in the Nkoranza North Constituency of Brong-Ahafo Region has commended the electorate of Nkoranza District for maintaining a peaceful atmosphere in all the communities before, during and after the December general elections.

Nana Gyabaa, who made the commendation at a press conference at Nkoranza on Tuesday appreciated the discipline manner the people comported themselves in all activities and programmes connected to the just-ended elections and said such attitudes show how united and cooperative the people of Nkoranza live. The chief stressed the need for the people to maintain such spirit of oneness and fellow feelings in them to promote development of the communities.

Nana Gyabaa said with the elections now over, the people of Nkoranza North should bury their political differences and forge ahead in unity and support initiative development programmes for the area. He congratulated the two parliamentarians-elect for Nkoranza, Mr Eric Amoateng for Nkoranza North and Mr Kwame Amporfo-Twumasi for Nkoranza South for emerging victorious in the elections on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and wished them God’s guidance and success in all their undertakings.

Nana Gyabaa expressed the hope that, now that NPP under the leadership of President John Agyekum Kufuor had been given the nod to rule for another four-year term, the government would do well to create Nkoranza North Constituency as a district to move the area forward. The chief urged Unit Committees in the area to redouble their efforts by organizing the people to initiate self-help development projects in the communities so as to attract the support of the Government and non-governmental organizations to improve upon their living standards.
