Chief bemoans decline in communal spirit

Babianeha (B/A) May 9, GNA – Nana Asiedu Taku-Ababio, Chief of Babianeha in Jaman South District of Brong-Ahafo, has bemoaned the ebbing communal spirit among the people in the district. He therefore urged the people to rekindle their communal spirit, which hitherto formed an integral part of community’s development. Nana Asiedu Taku-Ababio was speaking at a ceremony at the weekend at which the immediate past Assembly Member, Mr. George Appiah-Kubi, handed-over to his successor, Mr. Martin Oppong.

The chief expressed regret that the days when the electorate was highly committed to engaging in communal functions towards the development of their communities were gone. Nana Taku-Ababio urged the people to get actively involved in the decision-making process as well as community-initiated programmes so as to derive numerous benefits from interventions of Government. Handing over power officially to his successor, Mr. Appiah-Kubi asked the chief and the people of Babianeha to co-operate with the incoming Assembly Member so as to improve their lot. Mr. Oppong expressed gratitude to his predecessor and people in the area for the honour done him. He pledged to work assiduously to bring back the communal spirit, saying his priority would be education and called for the co-operation of all.
