Chief bans special cloth at funerals in his area

Ampia Ajumako (C/R), Sept. 17, GNA – The Odikro of Ampia Ajumako, Nana Oguaa III has banned with immediate effect the use of special cloth for funeral celebrations in the area.

The chief, who is also the Kyidomhene of the Ajumako Traditional Area, announced the ban at a durbar to mark the annual Akwambo festival at Ampia Ajumako.

He expressed concern about “expensive funeral celebration in the area and said his administration would no longer tolerate such practice. Nana Oguaa advocated for the construction of a clinic in the town to cater for the health needs of the people. The District Police commander, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Seth Tay called on Ghanaians to stop meting out instant justice to suspects, but rather, hand them over to the police. He said this would enable the police to investigate and know more about the suspects.

Mr F. Y Barnes, Assembly Member for the area appealed to the District Assembly to rehabilitate the Methodist Primary school, which has not seen any major maintenance since it was built in the 1940s.
