Chief asks govt to uphold judicial decision on Akuse

Odumase-Krobo (E/R), Oct. 29, GNA – The Konor of Manya-Krobo Traditional Area, Nene Sakitey II, has appealed to the government to uphold the judicial decisions already arrived at and reaffirmed many times in respect of Akuse.

He said Akuse is in the Eastern Region and that there might be unpleasant consequences if government tries to secede any part of the Manya Krobo against the will of the people. Nene Sakitey was speaking at this year’s durbar of chiefs and people of Manya Krobo on Friday to climax the celebration of the Ngmayem festival at Odumase-Krobo.

He alleged that on issues concerning Akuse, political and monetary influences were being used to “gag the voice of Justice”. Nene Sakitey appealed to the Manya-Krobo District Director of Education to strengthen the inspectorate unit of his outfit to help guard against the tendency of schools in the traditional area from scoring absolute failure at the Basic Education Certificate Examination. He called for the prosecution of people who embezzle state funds to serve as deterrent to others.

Deputy Eastern Regional Minister, Ms Susana Mensah, appealed to traditional authorities in the Manya-Krobo Traditional Area to release lands for agriculture to help create employment opportunities for the youth.

Ms Mensah called for the promotion of the cultivation of Mango and pepper, which has great potentials in the area to help create employment for the youth.
