Chief appeals to teachers to return to the classroom

Sunyani (B/A), March 20, GNA – A traditional chief has appealed to teachers in the country to heed Government’s appeal to return to the classroom, in the interest of school children. Nana Kwaku Dwuma Ankoana II, Paramount Chief of Seikwa Traditional Area, said the Government had agreed to find lasting solutions to the grievances and demands of teachers. The paramount chief in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Sunyani said: 93the refusal of the teachers or a section of them to return to work meant gross disrespect to the President, chiefs and the entire Ghanaian populace who voted the President to power”. Nana Ankoana said any strike action by teachers would affect the performance of final year students of basic and second cycle school. He said that the continuous refusal of some teachers to return to work was eroding the sympathy that the people have for them.
