Accra, Aug.19, – A chief today appealed to the Inspector General of Police to expedite action on a case in which his son was allegedly beaten up by a mob at Samreboi early this year for allegedly causing the genital of a friend to shrink. Nana Amihere Paynjelle the second, of Asanda near Axim in the Western region, said as a result of the mob action, his son, Mr Amos Rosely, a marketing clerk at Kwasuo near Dadieso in the Aowin Suaman district, was admitted to hospital. His vehicle, a Toyota Celica with registration number AS 5047 A was burnt together with his passport, a driving licence, a Akuafo cheque book and nine million cedis. Nana Paynjelle said the case was first called at the Asankragwa court but sensing a raw deal by the police prosecutor, the case was transferred to the Sekondi Regional Criminal Office on February 17, this year. He said for six consecutive occasions, the officer in charge, Mr Kwabena Gyina-Tawiah, ”continues to tell me go and come the next time. This, he said, compelled him to get the case broadcast on the national radio but yet nothing has come out of it. The chief said as a result of the mob action, Mr Rosely is unable to visit his palm plantation at Samreboi, his main source of income. Nana Paynjelle pleaded with the IGP to use his authority to ensure that law and order prevailed in the area by bringing to book the culprits in the mob action.
