Chief appeals to government appointees to work hard

Gomoa Assin (C/R), Jan 17, GNA – A chief has appealed to government appointees to work to justify their appointment and not to make people have the impression they are holding the positions because of their affiliation with the ruling party.

Okofo Ameresi Okai Annan 11, Banmuhen of Gomoa Akyempim Traditional Area, said the days of 93job for the boys” when some ruling party member= s were placed on government pay-rolls, collecting salaries without doing any work must be seen as over. He said President John Atta Mills’s declaration of 2011 as 93Action Year” enjoined all appointees to work hard to make the declaration to hav= e impact on the people.

The chief said the declaration of the 93Year of Action”, he believe= d, was to accelerate the 93Better Ghana Agenda” and appealed to chiefs and queens to use the 93Year of Action” to rekindle the communal spirit of t= heir people to facilitate development of their communities.

He said conditions in some communities did not suggest that they had chiefs and queens in those communities. Okofo Ameresi Okai Annan expressed concern about how politics was bein= g used to create disrespect and indiscipline in the society and said if this was not checked it would be difficult to control the youth in future. He suggested that political activities must be banned in the country immediately after election and should be lifted about a year to the next election. This, the chief said, would bring some peace and unity into the countr= y to advance development.
