Nana Atta Yaw Kwaakwa, Mankralo and Acting Patron of the Coaltar Traditional Area, has appealed to the Government to provide basic amenities for the area.
The chief made the appeal when Ms Helen Adjoa Ntoso, Eastern Regional Minister, called on him as part of her familiarization tour of the Ayensuano District on Monday.
Nana Kwaakwa complained about the bad nature of roads in the area which he said was impeding economic activities.
He called for urgent assistance to the Coaltar Presbyterian Senior High Technical School adding that the school did not have potable water system, an administration block, dormitories and teachers’ bungalow which compelled teachers to commute from Nsawam to the school to teach.
“Currently, the students learn in the classrooms during the day, but turned them into their bedroom in the night,” he said.
Nana Kwaakwa appealed for a police patrol vehicle, to enable the police to fight crime effectively in the newly created district.
He also appealed for the expansion of the only clinic in the area to improve health delivery to the people.
“We, however, want to use this occasion to express our gratitude to the government for giving us a district, but it is our fervent wish that development is fast tracked in this district,” he said.
Mr Mike Ofori Darko, District Chief Executive for Ayensuano, said the assembly was sourcing funds to maintain the natural resources in the area to serve as a tourist attraction, to generate income for the district.
