Check stealing at Makola – Traders

Accra, Nov 8, GNA – Traders at the Makola Market have appealed to the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) to beef up security to curb stealing that has become rampant in the market.

A victim, Alhassan Awudu Tawiah, a butcher, told the Ghana News Agency at the weekend that that his tools, weighing scales and axes had been stolen on four occasion.

Madam Regina Agyeibea, a yam seller, also complained that, hardly a day passed without her yams being stolen, adding that, “this had made us to run into debts to our suppliers”.

She appealed to the AMA to investigate the background of security personnel who operate in the market.

When contacted, Mr Anum said, he wasn’t aware of the stealing cases and advised traders not to leave their wares unprotected.
