‘Chaos’ in Parliament over seizures of public installations & vehicles

The floor of Parliament was charged on Friday as members engaged in heated exchanges.

The matter of contention was the seizure of offices by some alleged New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters and vehicles by the government taskforce.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Nalerigu constituency A.B Fuseini recounted instances where NPP supporters assaulted members perceived to be National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Almost every member of the minority got out of their feet when the Nhyiaeso MP Kennedy Kankam’s alleged that some elements within the NDC also brutalised NPP supporters.

A point of order from Keta MP Richard Quarshigah was over ruled by the speaker Aaron Mike Ocquaye but the Bulsa North lawmaker James Agalga who disagreed with the decision said the Speaker’s ruling was wrong.

He went further to allege that a policeman was brutalized at the Flagstaff House by military officers.

EIB’s Ibrahim Alhassan reported that the first minority chief whip Muntaka Mubarak also poured out his frustration in the speaker’s statement.

Majority leader Osei Kyei Mensah- Bonsu said such statements have the potential of dividing the house.
