Chaos in Fanteakwa as Agogo Fulani herdsmen besiege communities

A number of Fulani herdsmen from Asante Akyem Agogo are reportedly trooping to the Fanteakwa District in the Eastern region through unapproved routes.

The nomads who are moving with their cattle are already jostling for settlement in the traditional farming community.

Residents of Fanteakwa are raising concerns over the development with some claiming the herdsmen will inflict their associated troubles on them.

The District Chief Executive for Fanteakwa Abass Fuseini Sbaabe who confirmed the migration of the herdsmen to Starr News’ Kojo Ansah said the development is worrying.

He said the district security council has already met over the issue and will put in place measures to curtail a possible conflict situation between the herdsmen and the residents.

The development comes on the back of the raging standoff between residents of Agogo in the Ashanti region and the nomads. So far, about five people have been killed in a renewed hostilities among the two factions.
