Channel poverty reduction items through assembly members – Anderson

Senya-Beraku (C/R), April 19, GNA- The Chairman of Senya Urban Council, Mr. Kwame Onassis Anderson, on Sunday appealed to the Ministry of Women and Children’s Affairs and the National Council on Women and Development (NCWD) to henceforth, channel all monies, logistics and other items meant for the poverty reduction programme in the area through assembly members and opinion leaders.

This, he said, would ensure proper distribution, monitoring and evaluation of the activities of the beneficiaries for the good of the communities and the nation.

Mr. Anderson who made the appeal through the GNA at Senya Beraku said the Women Development fund, which was recently sent to the area by the Ministry to help reduce poverty was not properly distributed, adding that it was more on political affiliation than on merit.

He said this deprived the actual beneficiaries of getting access to the fund thus defeating the aims and objectives of the fund.

He said the people of Senya are very grateful to the Ministry for its efforts at helping to improve the lot of women and children in the area. 19 April, 04
