‘Changing Amissah-Arthur as running mate will be suicidal’

Pollster Ben Ephson says it will politically suicidal for President John Mahama to change Vice President Amissah-Arthur as his running in the impending 2016 elections.

According to him, he will be surprised if the President effects a change, adding that President John Mahama is politically matured to know what the consequences will be for the NDC party should Amissah-Arthur be dropped.

Critics of the Vice President claim he is not a grassroots person and does not have a solid base in the NDC party. There have been speculations that President Mahama is likely to replace his vice with the current Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hannah Tetteh as his running mate for the 2016 election.

She is seen by some political analysts to be one person who can shore up the electoral fortunes of the NDC.

However, speaking to Kasapa FMs Maame Broni, Mr. Ephson avers that such a move cannot be possible and further questions why the President will want to change a winning team.

“You don’t change a winning team which is tried and tested. The President is not likely to change his vice, he is an astute politician and will do what is right”.

He says the assertion that Vice President is a dull person must not be an issue to get him changed since political office is not run in the media or by talkative.
