Hearts of Oak are are drawn in group B of the African Champions’ League with Raja Casablanca, 1997 champions, Egypt’s Al Ahli, and the winners of the qualifying round match between Shooting Stars of Nigeria and Congo’s Daring Club Motema Pembe.
ASEC Abidjan, 1998 champions were drawn with last year’s African Cup Winners’ Cup winners Esperance, St Louisienne of Reunion and last year’s Champions’ League runners-up Dynamos of Zimbabwe in group A.
Al Ahli and Esperance have also lifted the most coveted club prize on the continent. The group winners meet in the two-leg final in November and December.
