Chamber commends President Kufuor

Accra, Dec. 23, GNA – The Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Thursday congratulated President John Agyekum Kufuor on his victory in Election 2004.

A message signed by Mr Solomon Abam Quartey, President of the Chamber, said: “You have for the past four years stood for unification, enhancement of the standard of living of Ghanaians, inculcating a sense of accountability, ensuring macroeconomic stability, and many more, which have earned you the mandate to continue with such good works.”

It said President Kufuor’s victory attested to an acknowledgement of the good work he was doing, “especially in such areas as private sector empowerment, infrastructure development, education and general economic reforms.

“In particular, the general peaceful election under your presidency showed that Ghana has really established and entrenched her democratic maturity, which shall continue to be a model for the rest of Africa.”

The Chamber expressed the hope that “Positive Change Chapter Two” would bring global competitiveness to Ghanaian businesses and further improvement in the life of Ghanaians.

It also congratulated the other Presidential Candidates and their Parties for their competitive rivalry, which contributed immensely to “the deepening of our democratic process”.

The Chamber also thanked the entire Ghanaian citizenry for their full participation in developing the Ghanaian Democracy . It also thanked the Electoral Commissioner and the Electoral Commission and all other agencies involved in organizing Election 2004 successfully to the pride of all Ghanaians.

The Chamber said it was ever ready to support President Kufuor and his Government.
