Chainsaw operator absconds after shooting his girlfriend

The Asante Akim South District Police Command is on the heels of a chainsaw operator, believed to be in his early 40s who is on the run after killing his girlfriend at Subinso near Kyempo.

The suspect, Kwabena Tenkorang is said to have shot the girlfriend, Adwoa Amo, 34, in the abdomen killing her instantly after a disagreement.

After committing the crime, the suspect came out of his room wielding the gun and threatened to shoot anyone on sight and later fled into the bush.

The body of the deceased has since been deposited at a private mortuary at Yawkwei near Konongo.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Samuel Sandow Latebu, District Police Commander who confirmed this to the Ghana News Agency said the Police received information about the incident at about 1400 hours on Tuesday and dispatched men to the scene.

He said information the Police gathered was that the deceased had returned from her home town, Asuboa on that fateful day and was in the room with the suspect when residents heard a gunshot.

DSP Latebu appealed to residents in the area to assist the Police to arrest the suspect.
