Chad President, Mahama hold discussions on Boko Haram

President of the Republic of Chad General Idriss Déby Itno is scheduled to hold discussions with President John Dramani Mahama on Wednesday, March 18 when he pays a working visit to Ghana.

The discussions will essentially focus on the fight against Islamic militants Boko Haram, an advisory from the Presidency has said.

The visit is a follow-up to last month’s meeting between President Mahama – who is the Chair of Ecowas’ Authority of Heads of State and Government – and Equatorial Guinea President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo and Congo President Dennis Sassou-N’Guesso – two leaders from the Central African bloc.

President Déby, who is also the Chairperson of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) will also discuss with President Mahama the hosting of a joint ECOWAS- ECCAS Heads of State and Government meeting on Boko Haram.

“The two countries, Ghana and Chad, will also use today’s working visit to hold bilateral discussions on areas of mutual cooperation.”
