Ghana have handed a first-ever national team call-up to CF Montréal striker Prince Osei Owusu ahead of this month’s Kirin Cup fixtures in Asia.
The 28-year-old forward, who was born in Germany but qualifies to represent Ghana, has been rewarded for an impressive season in Major League Soccer, where he has scored 13 goals and provided three assists.
Osei Owusu’s inclusion comes as part of Otto Addo’s effort to widen Ghana’s attacking options, especially with several senior forwards recovering from injuries. His physical presence, hold-up play and improved finishing have drawn praise in North America, making him one of Montréal’s standout performers this year.
The striker will now have the opportunity to earn his debut as the Black Stars prepare to face Japan on 14 November and South Korea four days later. Both fixtures form part of Ghana’s build-up to upcoming competitive matches.
His call-up has been met with excitement among fans, who hope his MLS form can translate into fresh firepower for the national team.
Osei Owusu is expected to join the squad this week as Ghana begin their training sessions ahead of the trip to Asia.
