CEPS Commissioner promoted to Major – General

Accra, July 14, GNA – The Commissioner of Customs, Excise and Preventive Service (CEPS), Brigadier Richardson Edwin Baiden has been promoted to the rank of Major – General.

A statement issued by the Public Relations Department of CEPS said the promotion of Major-General Baiden took effect from early this month. The statement said the Commissioner had also assumed the vice-chairmanship of the World Customs Organisation (WCO) of the West and Central Africa following Ghana’s successful hosting of the 10th WCO Regional Conference for Directors -General last March.

The statement said the Director-General of Guinea Customs, Madam Olga Syradin handed over the vice-chairmanship to Major-General Baiden. “It is expected that with Ghana being elected as the new Vice-Chairman for the sub-regional body, a new kind of dynamism will be injected into the affairs of the organization.

“Ghana’s leadership is also expected to bring new benefits in terms of enhanced capacity building assistance from WCO, better access to technical support and increased cooperation among members.”
