Centre trains 40 people in grass cutter rearing, horticulture

Adiembra, Jan. 22, GNA – The Sustainable Livelihood and Environmental Development Centre at Adiembra near Sekondi, has so far trained 40 youth in grass cutter rearing and horticulture, to make them economically independent.

Mr Donkris Mevuta, Manager of the Centre, who announced this at a ceremony to present certificates to the trainees, said that they would be supported with funds to enable them to establish their own businesses. He said the Centre also provides training in entreprenueurialship, biodiversity conservation and environmental and natural resources management. Mr. Mevuta said the Centre would introduce training in Information and Communication Technology for the youth to assist them to promote their businesses.

Mr. Anan Pra, Sekondi/Takoradi Metropolitan Chief Executive Assembly, in a speech read for him, asked the trainees to put into practice the training acquired to help reduce unemployment in the area. Papa Owusu-Ankomah, Member of Parliament for Sekondi, called for economic empowerment of the youth to enable them to improve upon their livelihood. Awulae Annor Adjaye 111, Omanhene of Western Nzema, called for rapid disbursement of funds for the trainees to enable them to establish their own businesses. 22 Jan 10
